The Ultimate Guide to Cruising with Dementia: How the MedallionClass App Saved My Trip by Duchess DJ Love: Author, Blogger, Caregiver, Frequent Traveler, Influencer, Digital Creator, Mentor, Photographer, and Podcaster.

I took this photo of my mom, Lady Lexie, and I at the Costa Maya Photo Session. This was part of the fun we had on the Sky Princess 7-night Western Caribbean cruise. Lady Lexie suffers from dementia and I used my Princess Medallion to track her wherever she went on the ship. It made our trip so much easier. I wrote a post about the whole thing on my website gallivantinglikearoyal.com so you can read all the details.
Lady Lexie & Duchess DJ

Hi Royals,

Hi! This is Duchess DJ Love. I'm here waving hello to my friends from my balcony. Here's a picture of me wearing my MedallionClass app as a necklace. I much prefer the bracelet, but since it is not on my arm, I'm showing it off as my fashion accessory.

As a bonus, I've attached a copy of my vlog from my cruise aboard the Sky Princess. Enjoy!
Hi Royals,
Duchess DJ with her Medallion necklace. She prefers the Medallion bracelet, though.

I’m back from my amazing cruise vacation and I can’t wait to share it with you. I’ve always wanted to visit the Western Caribbean and Mexico, and this cruise was the perfect opportunity to do so. I booked the Sky Princess 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise, which departed from Ft Lauderdale on December 9, 2023 and returned on December 16, 2023.

The cruise visited four ports of call: Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; Belize City, Belize; Costa Maya, Mexico. The cruise also included two days at sea, which gave me plenty of time to enjoy the ship and its amenities. I prefer the first and last full days of a cruise to be at sea.

This way the first day of cruise gives me plenty of time to unpack, unwind, and explore the ship. The last day of cruise is a reminiscing experience providing time to reflect and not have to rush to pack back up to return home. I thoroughly enjoyed the itinerary.

MedallionClass App

But this was not just any cruise. This was a special cruise that I took with my mom, who suffers from dementia. Traveling with someone with dementia can be challenging, stressful, and exhausting. But thanks to the MedallionClass app, a revolutionary technology that Princess Cruises offers, my cruise with my mom was effortless, personalized, and fun.

The MedallionClass app is a smartphone app that interacts with your Medallion, a wearable device that enables everything from touch-free boarding to locating your loved ones anywhere on the ship, as well as enhanced service like having whatever you need, delivered.

One of the primary challenges in traveling with a dementia loved one is the potential for confusion and disorientation. The unfamiliar environments, new routines, and sensory overload can exacerbate their symptoms, leading to increased anxiety and agitation. It is essential to be aware of their limitations and adapt travel plans accordingly. Selecting destinations that offer a familiar setting or engaging in activities that evoke positive memories can help ease the transition and reduce stress. This book will give you suggestions to ease the confusion and travel smoothly.

Duchess DJ Love travels frequently and takes her mom along on the journey. They go on cross-country trips and fly the friendly skies. Duchess DJ knows how to manage her mother, Lady Lexie, who suffers from dementia. Over the years, Duchess DJ has learned tips and tricks to ease Lady Lexie’s confusion and make travel a breeze for everyone.

As a bonus, there are two chapters from Duchess DJ Love’s other books. One is from tagline: Travel Tales and Tips: Exploring the World on a Shoestring Budget and the other is from The Art of Wealth: Making Money Work for You.

That’s why it is appropriately titled The Ultimate Guide to Cruising with Dementia: How the MedallionClass App Saved My Trip. So, let’s get started!

Introduction:

Wikipedia states, Sky Princess is a Royal-class cruise ship currently operated by Princess Cruises, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation & plc. She is the second ship in the cruise line’s history to sail under this name. She is the fourth Royal-class ship in the Princess fleet and commenced operations in October 2019.  This was the perfect choice for Duchess DJ Love in more ways than one.

Also, I share why Sky Princess is the perfect ship for cruising with Dementia, why the Western Caribbean is the Ideal Destination for Cruising with Dementia, why the MedallionClass App is The Ultimate Tool for Cruising with Dementia, Tips and Tricks for Cruising with Dementia, and concluding with reasons why to select Sky Princess over her competitors. I agree the ship is Royal.

Sky Princess: The Perfect Ship for Cruising with Dementia

Here are my top 5 reasons why Sky Princess is the perfect ship for cruising with cognitive declining loved-ones.

Should you take a person with dementia on a cruise? Living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia does not mean it’s necessary to stop participating in meaningful activities such as travel. However, it does require planning to ensure safety, comfort and enjoyment for everyone. People with early onset dementia can still enjoy the luxury of being on a cruise ship because of its design to accommodate disabilities. If you are bringing a loved one on board, be sure to inform staff about your situation and what they can do to make your stay easier.

The Sky Princess features and amenities make it suitable and enjoyable for cruising with dementia. For example, the spacious and comfortable staterooms, the attentive and friendly crew, the variety of dining and entertainment options, the relaxing and rejuvenating spa and fitness facilities, etc. The size of the ship was easy to navigate but spacious enough not to be overcrowded with other travelers. We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere aboard Sky Princess.

The MedallionClass App was the greatest feature. MedallionClass App is The Ultimate Tool for Cruising with Dementia. I gave this topic an entire section below as I highlight how the MedallionClass app made my cruise more effortless, personalized, and enjoyable, by providing features such as contactless boarding, keyless stateroom entry, simplified safety training, whatever you need delivered, dining reservations, truly touchless payment, find your way and your friends, events on board, stateroom TV, family-friendly games, and casino play. No worries, if you don’t have a smartphone or tech challenge, nightly the Princess Patter is placed underneath your door so that you can plan the next day’s fun.

The Sky Princess meets the needs and preferences of people with dementia and their caregivers. For example, the accessibility and safety features, the personalized and flexible service, the supportive and inclusive atmosphere, and in room dining service if needed.

If you are traveling with someone who has a disability, disorder, or memory issues, then this ship is your vacation escape. I did not have to clean the room, cook any meals, or worry about my mom while aboard. I had some concerns regarding how she would handle the trip but she did well. I felt safe onboard too. I informed our steward of her condition, just in case, she wandered out of the room while I was in the bathroom, reading on the balcony, or going upstairs for a snack. Safety was my main objective and the Medallion app was the solution for cruising with dementia.

In this blog, you will find what I loved about Sky Princess, tips for traveling with dementia, features of cruise ship, the itinerary, the app and other tips you. Also, you will find listed 7 reasons concluding why you should select Sky Princess over her competitors.

The Sky Princess is a newer cruise ship that was launched in 2019, with both traditional and modern features, making it an appeal to travelers of all preferences. With four pools, two adult retreats, a large movie screen, and many alfresco dining options, this ship is perfect for enjoying the fresh air of the sea.

As if that’s not enough, there are also many other entertainment options available on board, including comedy shows, live music, movies under the stars, DJ performances, outdoor movies, Princess Casino, Princess Live, Princess Theatre, The Piazza, and the Vista Lounge. With all of the available activities, you're sure to have a good time, no matter what you're looking for.

Tips and Tricks for Cruising with Dementia

Cruising with dementia can be a rewarding and enjoyable experience for both the person with dementia and their caregiver, as long as they plan ahead, prepare well, and adapt to the situation. Here are some possible solutions for cruising with dementia, based on my web search results and my own knowledge:

    • Choose a cruise ship that is suitable and comfortable for cruising with dementia. Some cruise ships, such as the Sky Princess, offer features and amenities that cater to the needs and preferences of people with dementia and their caregivers, such as spacious and accessible staterooms, attentive and friendly crew, personalized and flexible service, supportive and inclusive atmosphere, etc.
    • Choose a destination that is interesting and manageable for cruising with dementia. Some destinations, such as the Western Caribbean, offer opportunities and challenges for cruising with dementia, such as beautiful and diverse scenery, rich and fascinating culture and history, warm and hospitable people, fun and exciting activities, etc. You can overcome the challenges by researching the destination, checking the weather and climate, learning the language and currency, following the customs and regulations, arranging the transportation and logistics, etc.
    • Use a tool that enhances and simplifies your cruise experience with dementia. One such tool is the MedallionClass app, which is a must-have tool for cruising with dementia. It offers features and benefits that make your cruise easier and more fun, such as touch-free boarding, keyless stateroom entry, simplified safety training, best Wi-Fi at sea, food and drinks delivery, dining reservations, truly touchless payment, find your way and your friends function, events on board, stateroom TV, family-friendly games, casino play, etc. You can use it effectively by setting it up before your cruise, using its intuitive and user-friendly interface, relying on its reliable and secure performance, and contacting its helpful and responsive support.
    • The best tip that I can give is to continually observe your companion, know and understand their moods and behaviors, and be considerate of their needs. For the all day sea days, I gave my mom motion sickness pills. They made her sleepy, so she would sleep late the next day. When she became fussy, that told me she needed something. It was up to me to figure out what and calm her down. Unwinding in our cabin each night provided her comfort and she felt safe in our stateroom.
    • Follow some tips and tricks for cruising with dementia, based on your personal experience and knowledge. Some tips and tricks are: book your cruise early and choose a suitable cabin and itinerary, pack lightly and bring essential documents and items, plan your activities and excursions carefully and flexibly, communicate your needs and preferences clearly and politely, cope with any problems or difficulties calmly and creatively, enjoy your cruise and make the most of your time and memories, etc.

I hope these solutions will help you cruise with dementia successfully and happily.

Duchess DJ and Lady Lexie struck a fun pose aboard the Sky Princess, as part of the photo package. It is hard to know if they did this on purpose, but it looks like they are the same size.

Western Caribbean: The Ideal Destination for Cruising with Dementia

The Western Caribbean makes a great destination for cruising with dementia. From the beautiful and diverse scenery, the rich and fascinating culture and history, the warm and hospitable people, and the fun and exciting activities, etc. provide a joyful atmosphere and engaging experience.

Princess Cruises offers the MedallionClass app, a great tool for those with memory issues who travel with the cruise line. When people travel with dementia or other types of memory issues, it is possible that they will get lost in unfamiliar places. The app helps people with memory issues easily navigate an unfamiliar location such as a cruise ship with its use of geolocation technology. The MedallionClass app has been shown to reduce anxiety and confusion, which can help people traveling with dementia. The app can be used on the passenger's phone or other personal device and can interact with the cruise ship's facilities.

    • Ft Lauderdale, Florida (Dec 16, 6:00 a.m.)

    Cozumel, Mexico

    Welcome to Cozumel
    Welcome to Puerta Maya

Our first port of call was supposed to be Cozumel, Mexico. However, due to so many ships going to port there, our cruise switched dates with Belize City. Therefore Belize was our first port of call and Cozumel became the last. Cozumel is a beautiful island in the Caribbean Sea, famous for its coral reefs, beaches, and culture.

I decided to join a shore excursion that took me to the Chankanaab National Park, a natural reserve that offers a variety of attractions and activities. The park has a lagoon, a botanical garden, a crocodile farm, a sea lion show, and a dolphin encounter. The tour guide explained the history and the ecology of the park and showed us the different areas and animals. We also had the chance to swim with the dolphins, which was an amazing experience.

    Some local traditions and costumes
    Some Local Traditions

After the tour, I had some free time to explore the island and do some shopping. I bought some souvenirs, such as silver jewelry, straw hats, and tequila, and tried some local delicacies, such as tacos, quesadillas, and margaritas. I also enjoyed the music and the vibe of the island, which was very festive and colorful. We shared Cozumel with two other Carnival cruise ships, two Royal Caribbean cruise ships, and two others. There was plenty of local activities and festive natives dancing, flying in the air by their feet, and musicians serenading us as we explored the area. Stemtox was given out as samples to correct wrinkles on the face. A local jeweler customized a pair of earrings for me while I browsed the store. I found the locals extremely friendly and helpful.

The MedallionClass app made my day in Cozumel easier and more enjoyable. I was able to book my shore excursion online, without having to wait in line or fill out any paperwork. I was also able to use the app to locate my mom on the ship, in case we got separated or she wandered off. The app also allowed me to order drinks and snacks from the park, and have them delivered to me wherever I was. The app also notified me when it was time to return to the ship, so I didn’t have to worry about missing the departure.

    Roatan, Honduras

Is the Mahogany Bay beach a good place to go? Are there a lot of tourists? What do they offer there?
    Mahogany Bay Beach

Our second port of call was Roatan, Honduras, where we arrived on the third day of the cruise. Roatan is the largest and most developed of the Bay Islands, a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea. It’s known for its coral reef, its beaches, and its water sports.

I wanted to join the shore excursion that took folks to the West Bay Beach, one of the most beautiful and popular beaches in Roatan. The beach has white sand, turquoise water, and a variety of restaurants and bars. The beach is also close to the reef, which is home to hundreds of species of fish, coral, and other marine life. The tour guide will provide you with snorkeling equipment and guide you to the best spots to see the underwater wonders. However, our cruise week was a wet one. Therefore, we choice to stay nearby the ship. We had the opportunity to shop in Mahogany Bay.

It is a quaint village filled with shopping, restaurants, boutiques, and beach opportunities to swim in the clear bay water, sunbathe, and relax on the beach. We purchased the Magic Flying Chairlifts to take us quickly and scenically to the beach, but due to the wetness of the day, we walked instead with our umbrellas. The cost was $12 per person and available all day without limiting the usage. Tip: bring rain gear and a jacket. I used both on several of our ports of call.

You can reach the free beach area by following the nature trail in Mahogany Bay, or by taking a simpler route. The nature trail has some nice plants to see along the way, and you can also take some great pictures of your cruise ship. The trail goes through the forest and curves towards the water, with a gentle slope. Watch your step, because there are some tree roots and loose gravel on the path that could make you stumble. The nature trail is a good option to add some variety to your walks to or from Mahogany Beach. I found it appealing and struck some poses too.

A bit more regarding the Mahogany Bay port area in Roatan, Honduras. Mahogany Bay is a cruise ship port owned by Carnival Corporation, located on the southern side of Roatan, a 33-mile-long island in the Caribbean Sea. The port opened in 2009 and can accommodate two large cruise vessels at a time. We were the only ship docked while there. The port area covers 20 acres of waterfront property and offers various amenities and attractions for cruise passengers, such as:

    • A duty-free store that sells beach necessities, souvenirs, liquor, and perfume.
    • An open-air plaza with many shops and restaurants, where you can find local crafts, jewelry, clothing, and food.
    • A chair lift system (called the Magical Flying Chair) that takes you from the terminal building to Mahogany Beach, a 10-acre private beach with white sand, clear water, and palm trees.
    • A variety of activities and excursions that you can book at the port, such as snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, island-hopping, zip-lining, and more.
    • A free shuttle bus that runs every 15 minutes between the port and the nearby town of Coxen Hole, where you can explore the local culture and history.

Mahogany Bay is a popular and beautiful destination for cruise travelers who want to enjoy the sun, the sea, and the scenery of Roatan. I hope this description helps you get a better idea of what Mahogany Bay port area is like. Be sure to watch my vlog and view my photos too.

    Nature trail
    Nature Trail

Since we had some free time to explore the island and do some shopping. I visited the West End Village, which is a lively and colorful area that offers a variety of shops, cafes, and nightlife. I bought some souvenirs, such as wood carvings, socks, souvenir t-shirts, and coffee, and tried some local delicacies, such as baleadas, a tortilla with beans and cheese, and conch soup, a seafood soup with coconut milk. I also enjoyed the culture and the atmosphere of the island, which was very friendly and laid-back. The locals put on a live show us demonstrating their culture.

The MedallionClass app made my day in Roatan easier and more enjoyable. I was able to cancel my shore excursion online, without having to wait in line or fill out any paperwork. I was also able to use the app to locate my mom on the ship, in case we got separated or she wandered off. The app also allowed me to order drinks and snacks from the beach, and have them delivered to me wherever I was. The app also notified me when it was time to return to the ship, so I didn’t have to worry about missing the departure.

    Belize City, Belize

    Belize Monument
    Welcome to Belize

Our first port of call was Belize City, Belize, where we arrived on the second day of the cruise. Belize City is the largest city and the main port of Belize. It’s known for its tropical rainforest, its wildlife, and its culture.

We wanted the shore excursion that took folks to the Altun Ha Mayan Ruins, a historic site that dates back to the 6th century. The site has several temples, plazas, and tombs that reveal the ancient civilization that once lived there. The tour guide would explain the history and the significance of the site and show the different structures and artifacts. While there you have the chance to climb the Temple of the Masonry Altars, the highest and most impressive temple, which offers a panoramic view of the site and the surrounding jungle. I hope this description explains why this was the tour we desired. However, with the damp conditions, port of call date switch, and taking the water taxi to shore cancelled several excursions.

While ashore in Belize City, I had some free time to explore the city and do some shopping. I visited the Belize Museum, which is housed in a former prison and displays exhibits on the history, culture, and nature of Belize. I bought some souvenirs, such as chocolate, rum, and handicrafts, and tried some local delicacies, such as rice and beans, stewed chicken, and fry jacks, a fried dough with honey. I also enjoyed the music and the vibe of the city, which was very lively and diverse. We took advantage of the photo ops in the city too. I captured the Belize Sign Monument and several Belize welcome signs. With my long hair, $20 to braid my hair was no brainer and it didn’t take long either.

    Welcome to Belize!
View of the Belize Sign Monument from the water taxi

The MedallionClass app made my day in Belize City easier and more enjoyable. I was able to check status of the onboard activities while ashore, make dinner reservations, and check my shipboard account. I suggest doing this often if you have charges disputed, tours cancelled, or just to keep tabs on your growing balance. Gratuties are posted per person daily. The app also notified me when it was time to return to the ship, so I didn’t have to worry about missing the last water shuttle back to the ship which takes 30 to 45 minutes based on weather conditions.

    Costa Maya, Mexico

    Welcome to Costa Maya
    Costa Maya Welcomes You

Our third port of call was Costa Maya, Mexico, where we arrived on the fourth day of the cruise. Costa Maya is a tourist destination that was developed in the late 1990s to cater to cruise passengers. It’s known for its beach clubs, water park, and shopping plaza. Costa Maya port is a cruise port in Mexico, located on the east coast of the Yucatan peninsula, near the border with Belize. It was built specifically for cruise ships and has a terminal complex that resembles a Mayan city. The port offers various amenities and attractions for cruise passengers, such as shops, restaurants, pools, bars, entertainment, and a chair lift to a private beach.

The port is also a gateway to explore the nearby beaches of Mahahual and the ancient Mayan ruins of Chacchoben, Kohunlich, Dzibanche, and Kinichná. Costa Maya is a popular and safe destination for cruise travelers who want to enjoy the sun, the sea, and the culture of the Caribbean. I hope this gives you a brief overview of Costa Maya port. We walked around taking in the destination. We saw beautiful flamingos in an open area by the beach area. Many shops lined the pedestrian street.

Again our day experienced rain off and on. Again today, we used the MedallionClass app to see what was happening onboard. After lunch we returned to the ship to enjoy the activities. For example, guess the weight of a piece or artwork, bingo, afternoon tea, ping pong tournament, or mini golf challenge were some of the activities happening on Sky Princess.

MedallionClass App: The Ultimate Tool for Cruising with Dementia

The MedallionClass app is a smartphone app that interacts with your Medallion, a wearable device that enables everything from touch-free boarding to locating your loved ones anywhere on the ship, as well as enhanced service like having whatever you need, delivered. The app is designed to make your cruise more effortless, personalized, and enjoyable.

Here are some of the features and benefits of the MedallionClass app:

    • Contactless boarding: You can use the app to complete your check-in process online, upload your travel documents, and get OceanReady® before your cruise. This will allow you to skip the lines and board the ship faster and easier.
    • Keyless stateroom entry: You can use the app to unlock your stateroom door without touching a key card or a handle. Your door will automatically unlock as you approach it with your Medallion.
    • Simplified safety training: You can use the app to complete your mandatory safety training on your own time and at your own pace. You can watch a safety video, review the emergency procedures, and confirm your muster station on the app.  There is a maritime law that states all passengers must take the safety training before cruising.
    • The best Wi-Fi at sea: You can use the app to access the MedallionNet, the fastest and most reliable Wi-Fi at sea. You can stay connected with your friends and family, stream your favorite shows and movies, and share your cruise photos and videos on social media. As a blogger, podcaster, content creator, etc, the Wi-Fi was important to me. MedallionNet was the best that I have experienced.
    • Whatever you need, delivered: You can use the app to order food, drinks, and other items from anywhere on the ship, and have them delivered to you wherever you are. You can also track the status and location of your order on the app. Courtesy breakfast delivery was available daily.
    • Dining reservations: You can use the app to make dining reservations at any of the restaurants on the ship, and view the menus and specials. You can also order your food in advance and have it ready when you arrive.
    • TrulyTouchless™ payment: You can use the app to pay for anything on the ship without touching cash or cards. You can also view your folio, check your balance, and manage your spending on the app.
    • Find your way and your friends: You can use the app to navigate the ship and find your way to any destination on board. You can also use the app to locate your friends and family on the ship, and chat with them through text or voice messages.
    • Events on board: You can use the app to see the schedule of events and activities on the ship, and bookmark your favorites. You can also get notifications and reminders about the events you don’t want to miss.
    • Stateroom TV: You can use the app to control your stateroom TV, and access the same features and content as on your smartphone. You can also watch live TV, movies, and shows on demand on your TV. We thoroughly enjoyed the movies on our room tv. After a long day of activities, we returned to our room and watched movies until we fell asleep. This feature was a big plus on the cruise as it gave mom a chance to rest and become familiar with her surroundings each night. Most times, she knew which door was the bathroom but there was an instance when she confused the room door with the bathroom. She went out into the hall looking for the bathroom and got confused with all the doors looking identical. Luckily, our steward came and told me that she came out and he let her back into the cabin.
    • Family-friendly games: You can use the app to play fun and interactive games with your family and friends on the ship. You can also join the Ocean Casino and play slots, poker, bingo, and more on the app.
    • Casino play: You can use the app to play casino games on the ship, and access the same features and content as on your smartphone. You can also join the Ocean Casino and play slots, poker, bingo, and more on the app. This can be tricky for over spending with your budget. To play the slot machines, all I had to do was swipe my Medallion to play. No money, no problem, as the app asks if you want to charge the money transfer to your account to play. Of course, I did. I won some and played a long time on my allotted casino fund as I call it. At the end of the cruise, you have to go the cashier to cash out. You cannot transfer your winning back to your account.
    Let Your Dreams Set Sail

My takeaways from the Sky Princess Western Caribbean 7 night cruise include:

    • Stateroom – It was modern, clean, and roomy, for a cruise cabin. You have amble storage space underneath the bed to hide and store your luggage. There was plenty of closet hanging space, a safe in the closed door storage in hall and the bathroom was roomy enough with enough storage in it too. I liked the desk area with drawers and big mirror. There is even a full length mirror. The hairdryer is located inside the top drawer of the desk. Individual lighting for each side of the bed. Plug and USB outlets are provided on the desk. Room comes with a compact refrigerator, and open shelves on the space covering it. We had one chair inside the room. There were two high back chairs on the balcony with a small table. Our balcony came with a see through railing. The best part of our stateroom was the over hang just above our balcony. This was a huge deal due to the rainy week. Our balcony remained dry due to us being right below the 16th floor which had wider space housing the buffet area and two open style cafeteria type seating.
    • Food – The food was great. We chose the Estrella dining room on our first night. Mom became agitated waiting for each course to be served. From then on, the buffet was our dining choice. She liked walking by the choices and selecting what she liked. What a variety and on those days when her dementia was stronger, she enjoyed selections from the kid’s menu area of the buffet. Coffee, tea, water, and lemonade is courtesy. The Pastry Shop in between the two buffet areas (World Fresh Market) had plenty of tasty desserts 24 hours a day. We did enjoy hamburgers from the burger place. There was a pizza parlor and ice cream shop with other fine dining restaurants to choose from. Two main dining rooms each evening serving dinner with two nights as formal evening attire to enter.
    • Ship, Amenities, and Activities – The 18 story ship looked elegant. The colors are soothing and warm, with shades of beige, cream, and gold. The floor is covered with a plush carpet that has a geometric pattern. The vibe is cozy and inviting, The Sanctuary is a serene and relaxing outdoor area that offers alfresco massages, cabanas, and loungers. The colors are calming and natural, with hues of green, blue, and brown. The floor is made of teak wood that has a striped pattern. The vibe is tranquil and peaceful, with a waterfall, a fountain, and a garden. There was a gym with weight lifting, cardio machines, free style workouts, and a separate exercise room for Zumba and aerobics. On deck 17 there was an outdoor track, tennis and basketball courts and ping pong tables. Deck 18, you find the mini golf course. The pool area provided plenty of loungers with live music, a DJ, and movies under the stars. On board, there is a library, a quiet area, bars and lounge rooms, the Princess Theatre, and so much more that I cannot recall it all. The Sky Princess is a smaller ship which I prefer. The other cruise ships sound the horn when departing. A short blast lasts for 1 to 3 second and a long blast from 4 to 6 seconds. The 1 long blast is a warning that the ship is about to move from a position and that the captain may be unable to see other boats. This signal is commonly used when leaving port. Our Sky Princess played the Love Boat theme. Duchess DJ Love is all about sharing the love. This cruise was a match made in the ocean.
