A phrase that you will hear and see everywhere in Costa Rica is “Pura Vida”. The term “Pura Vida” has been present in Costa Rica’s vocabulary for over 50 years. The English translation means “pure life” or “simple life”, however its more than just a phrase – it is a way of life. We all can learn something from this lifestyle choice. Slow down and live in the present moment. “Traveling opens doors that you didn’t know needed opening.” – Duchess DJ Love. This is the power of living life fully now, not in a future moment or dwelling on the past. Enjoy this moment as it is all that we have. Some of my international travel tips include placing your passport into a plastic ziplock bag to protect it, make color copies of passport for yourself and others in case it becomes lost, use space saver bags for clothes, know where the local embassy is at your travel destination, take with you the international phone numbers of airline, cruise, etc in case of travel disruption, blend in as much as possible, and be mindful of your surroundings while exploring the world.
