I recently sailed the Sky Princess from Ft. Lauderdale. Here are five noteworthy takeaways from my 7-night Western Caribbean cruise aboard the Sky Princess.

As a guest onboard, you will have access to all the ship's features. If you're looking for a place to grab some food, we offer a wide variety of options, like the Sky Princess' buffet, World Fresh Marketplace, which features a wide variety of stand-alone food stations. You can also check out the Estrella dining room, the pizza shop, the burger stand, and the ice cream parlor, all of which are included in the price of your cruise. Don't forget that water, tea, lemonade, and coffee are complimentary as well.

The Sky Princess is also home to several spectacular attractions and activities. Check out the Movies Under the Stars, where you can relax by the pool and catch a film. The rooms that are on the Marina deck and have the extended overhang would be great choices. The Marina Deck is conveniently located close to both the pool and the buffet so you won't be spending a lot of time looking for them. If you book your excursion before you leave, they will be added to your account. What impressed me aboard Sky Princess

Sky Princess cruise ship bonuses:

The MedallionNet was great for browsing and streaming. As a travel blogger, I work while traveling. The internet connection was great and more reliable than the premium Wi-Fi on Norwegian Jade and less expensive. I purchased the plan for two devices which was cheaper than the cost of one on Norwegian.

Princess MedallionClass app - The Medallion is a free, quarter-sized, wearable device that creates an even better, more seamless and personalized vacation experience. You just tap to open your cabin door, tap to add money to your account in the casino, and the best is finding your traveling companions. the Medallion tracks your movement on the ship which is a plus if you are traveling with kids or like me, with my mom, who has dementia. Also while onboard, you can use the app to book excursions, room service, reserve a spot for dinner, and other features.

Marina Deck balcony cabin aft was perfect for port of call views. The highlight was the broad overhang from deck 16. It rained a lot during my cruise, but our balcony stayed dry due to this overhang. Another bonus of the Marina Deck is you are only one floor from the buffet and pool. When the elevators are packed, just a quick climb up the stairs and no waiting.

Shore Excursion: For those seeking excitement, consider roughing it off-road in the tropical paradise of the Western Caribbean. Whether it’s a thrilling ATV ride or a bumpy jeep tour, there’s no shortage of adrenaline-pumping experiences. Try ziplining or diving into the ocean. Embark on an adventure to explore Mayan ruins during your cruise. These ancient archaeological sites offer a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the region.

Noteworthy Experiences

We booked a tour to begin at 11:15 and by 12;15 we were still waiting for our Easy Belize: Open-Air Trolley Train. This had been a very rainy day thus far, so we decided to not wait around any longer and returned to the ship via the water taxi/shuttle boat which takes 30-40 minutes. Once aboard we went to the Customer Service desk and explained what happened. We were immediately refunded. You can check your account on the Medallion App for expenses. The daily gratuities are listed too.

Another note worth mentioning. Our ports of call itinerary changed a week prior to sailing. If you booked an excursion outside the Sky Princess, then you would need to cancel and reschedule with the new date. Even while booking via Sky Princess some of the excursions were no longer available due to the time of arrival on new date.

Sky Princess Trip Tips

Excursions book up quickly. You can add your name to the wait list sometimes in case there’s a cancellation.

Incredible Weather: The Western Caribbean boasts incredible weather, making it an ideal destination for sun-seekers. Expect warm temperatures, clear skies, and plenty of sunshine during your voyage. However on my cruise, the temperature was pleasant but it rained a lot. Pack rain gear and a light jacket just in case. Movies Under the Stars were a big hit too. You could lounge by the pool and enjoy a movie. The Love Boat theme played when we left each port.

Delicious Fare: Cruise cuisine is a highlight, and the Sky Princess delivers. Savor delectable meals, from gourmet dining to casual bites, as you sail through turquoise waters. We dined at the Sky Princess’ buffet, World Fresh Marketplace, featuring a wide variety of stand-alone food stations, making it easy and quick to navigate.

You’ll have to do a full circuit (front to back, not side to side) to ensure you don’t miss anything, particularly at lunch and dinner. There is a pastry buffet between the two seating areas. We dined at the Estrella dining room, but it booked up quickly. The buffet worked out well for us with the many selections and a kid’s food area. Also there was a pizza shop, burger stand, and ice cream parlor. These were are included in the price of cruise. Water, tea, lemonade, and coffee were complimentary.

Stupendous Attractions: From the pristine beaches of Mahogany Bay to the lush landscapes of Costa Maya, unique photo ops like the The Belize Sign Monument, and the vibrant streets of Cozumel, Mexico, the Western Caribbean offers a diverse array of attractions to explore and shop. Stemtox samples were given in Mexico. I received enough samples to last several months.

Our cabin on the Sky Princess was a twin-bed balcony cabin. It was great. We definitely got our money's worth, as the cabin was spotless, and it was nicely decorated. — Marina Deck Stateroom 610

Sky Princess Western Caribbean Ports

My port of calls were Belize City Belize, Roatan Honduras, and Costa Maya & Cozumel Mexico. What I liked the most was the first and last days of cruise were at sea. This gave me ample time to explore the ship and unpack before the excursions and arriving at port. The last day provided time to relax and pack to return home without rushing. Hopefully, my 5 things learned from my trip abroad the Sky Princess helps you plan and enjoy your cruise.

The movies under the stars was a highlight of my evening on the Sky Princess. It was a great way to relax by the pool and enjoy a movie. I also enjoyed how they played the Love Boat theme song as the ship left each port. Overall, this was a fun excursion and a relaxing way to end the day.

I was traveling with the Porsche Club of America and when we were aboard the ship we were treated to a buffet of desserts in honor of the club. I loved the unique view from the chairlift to Mahogany Bay. The ride was a good length and went by fast, and it was fun. Then we got off and had lunch at a restaurant right by the beach. We ate in a big building with a good view of the ocean. After lunch we walked down to the beach and stayed there for a few hours. We had a stateroom on Deck 15. We liked that it was just one flight of stairs from the buffet. No need to fight for a ride on a cruise ship elevator!
